Dr Sanjay Pooran MD, FRCPI, FRCP(London), MSc, FFPHMI, FFPH, MCFP, MFFLM, MBA, LLB, FAcadMed currently serve as Assistant Professor and Director of Hematology, Oncology, Infection and Immunity at Ross University School of Medicine.
He has designed simulation exercises involving dengue, hantavirus, Nipah virus, Ebola virus disease, and pandemic preparedness scenarios, enabling students to develop practical skills in outbreak response and interdisciplinary decision-making.
Dr Sanjay Pooran also currently serves as Guest Editor of a special Global Health Security edition of the World Association of Medical Law Journal. He has also contributed a book chapter examining GCC health systems strengthening, zoonotic disease preparedness, and lessons learned from the MERS epidemic. As well as serving as an Affiliate Researcher at the University of Kent and previously served as Fellow in Residence at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy. His scholarly work includes peer
reviewed publications, policy papers, conference presentations, invited lectures, book chapters, and editorial leadership.
Dr. Sanjay Pooran professional work is closely aligned with the public health priorities of the Caribbean, with a grounded understanding of the operational realities of small island and resource-variable health systems, including workforce constraints, climate-sensitive health risks, and the need for coordinated regional responses.
