PetSmart Charities Grant Impact at RUSVM

Thanks to a generous grant of $150,000 from PetSmart Charities, Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) has been making strides in improving the health and wellbeing of animals while training the next generation of Veterinary professionals. This funding, provided through the One Health Research Foundation – a 501(c)(3) public charitable organization, enabled the treatment of over 600 animals in the Saint Kitts community, ranging from pets to farm animals, all receiving much-needed care.

Beyond direct animal care, this grant has fostered greater opportunities for hands-on educations for RUSVM students, allowing them to gain invaluable real-world experience while also positively impacting the local community. Through a combination of outreach initiatives and on-campus treatments, students have been instrumental in providing critical care, helping to improve both animal welfare and public health.

This collaboration between PetSmart Charities and RUSVM embodies the spirit of One Health, addressing the interconnectedness of animal, human, and environmental health. Whether it’s spaying and neutering, preventative treatments, or educational workshops, the program has touched lives- both human and animal- across the island.
